As the 2019 edition of the Grand Prix de Lugano wrapped up, Cuervo y Sobrinos celebrated the comeback of Fabio Aru, Italian professional road bicycle racer, after three months of recovery from surgery. The renowned racer’s return to competition was awarded the Historiador Flameante watch.
At only 29 years old, Fabio is one of the best racers in the world, especially known for his climbing abilities which made him famous in Grand Tours. A former Italian National Road Race champion, the Sardinian cyclist won stages in major competitions such as the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia, and the Vuelta a España. After being diagnosed with a constriction of the iliac artery in his left leg, Fabio had to undergo an operation and take a three-month break. The Gran Premio di Lugano, where he ranked 22nd, marks his return to form.
Fabio was profoundly honored and delighted to receive the Historiador Flameante from Cuervo y Sobrinos as a tribute for his accomplishments and return. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation as well as his newfound fascination with the Cuban watch.
