This year, the brand marks the 85th anniversary of the model by releasing an updated Prominente Doble Tiempo.

In 1938, Cuervo y Sobrinos released its most iconic model, the Prominente.

The name, a term for one of the largest Cuban cigars available, has become familiar to legions of watch aficionados.

This year, the brand marks the 85th anniversary of the model by releasing an updated Prominente Doble Tiempo.

Reminiscent of a Cuban sunset, the dial is suffused with salmon hues, accentuating its intricately formed guilloché surface.

The Breguet-style hour and minute hands feature luminescent treatment, aiding readability in dim light conditions.

Stylised Arabic numerals hug the periphery of the dial, denoting the hours. Both the hands and indexes are presented in gunmetal grey.

Consistent with the design of its forebears, this new Prominente is inspired by Art Deco, a decorative style that has strongly influenced the architecture of Havana, the historical birthplace of Cuervo y Sobrinos. To coincide with the release of this model, the company has introduced subtle improvements to the case, further heightening its notably elegant appearance. For example, the caseband now features more curvaceous flanks, giving a sensual touch.

Two independent movements

Equipped with two independent movements, this watch allows the wearer to simultaneously display the time in two locations even when the offset is 30 or 45 minutes. Two automatic Swiss movements beat within the case, the CyS 8125 calibre, based on the Sellita SW100, and the CyS 5025 calibre, based on the ETA 2671. The latter movement has been modified in-house in order to present the time in a 24-hour format. Each movement features a decorated oscillating weight, incorporating a fan decoration and CyS engraving.
